Thoughts, propaganda, agenda and what not.

It has been a crazy few weeks/ months of football with some clubs conceding a goal a month, others conceding 5 in a game while some others are on an unbeaten run.  I can’t say where I'm going with this piece but let’s ride.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to show that his Juju reigns supreme as he still maintains his position as manager. It’s baffling how after losing 5-0 to rivals Liverpool at HOME he wasn’t sacked the next morning. To make matters worse, he got some ‘respite’ by defeating a terrible Spurs side comfortably. Antonio Conte who was supposed to be Ole’s replacement (I had started reading up on his philosophy and plotting player roles in my head smh) was then poached by Spurs who swiftly sacked Nuno Espirito Santo as any well-run club should. Ole not only got one manager sacked, but he also got his supposed replacement a job in another club. Ultimate 3D chess. With all of the managerial sackings going on, United fans have been manifesting it for their club but it appears none of that is happening anytime soon. With City pulling up at Old Trafford on Saturday, it would be interesting to see what the Norwegian guy has up his sleeve.

Spurs look like the ultimate winners despite a 3-0 home loss after hiring Antonio Conte. The Italian isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but one thing is clear, he is a proven winner. Whether he gets to win with serial bottlers Spurs is left to be seen but I expect them to actively challenge for a top 4 spot this season.

Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte. Good times for some, scary times for others.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea or TuChelsea have been on a roll lately. 7 against Norwich, 3 vs Newcastle. No strikers, no problem it seems. The most impressive thing is the fact that they’ve conceded only 3 league goals all season averaging a goal conceded in a month. Fullbacks scoring goals for fun, clean sheet on clean sheet, top of the table too. It must be nice.

As much as I'm not an Arsenal fan, I’m really happy they’re getting their shit together. I wanted some competition and they’re bringing it. Aaron Ramsdale has been really impressive with his top save against Leicester the peak of his displays so far.

I have nothing to say about Liverpool. They had the chance to beat United 8-0 to inevitably get Ole sacked but they could only manage 5 and that guy is still there. Shame on them.

I don’t think anyone should be surprised with West Ham’s run right now. From last season, they’ve shown that they’ve taken that step up. David Moyes is doing an amazing job and at the moment, they are sure bankers for a European place.

Oh yes, there’s Newcastle who are now under BIG money owners. I hope they get the whole project right. The first step of course is getting a new manager. With Unai Emery coming out to commit to Villareal, Eddie Howe looks like he’ll get the job having agreed a deal in principle for two and a half years. I know the talk would be that he got Bournemouth relegated but let’s not forget the amazing work he did in his 8 year stay taking them from the League One to the Championship then to the Premier League all in 3 years.

In Italy, Napoli have kept my propaganda flourishing as they’re still top of the League. AC Milan surprisingly, are going toe to toe with Napoli and are currently level on points. With Mike Maignan’s injury, I was expecting a drop in form but the Rossoneri are proving stubborn. Defending champions Inter are seven points behind while Jose Mourinho’s Roma are a further 11 points behind.

In Spain, the big news was Ronald Koeman’s sacking. (God When). Xavi looks set to take charge in a move that seems suspect to me. The trend of getting club legends as managers hasn’t exactly gone well but if Barcelona want to keep suffering, who am I to object?  He has done a good job at Al-Sadd but Barcelona is a different kettle of fish. All the best to him.

Finally, #30 has been missing in the Uber Eats Ligue 1. 5 games played, no goal or assist. He’s my guy but hmm. I prefer not to speak.

I think the ride stops here for now. See you next time
